The Butterfly Project

(Revelations 21:5, The Lord is the only one who can make things new again; He can take what is damaged and hurt and make it new).

We will be working with various organisations to uplift and empower women who have been affected by GBV(Gender Based Violence) and difficult circumstances to create employment by teaching them skills, entrepreneurship, vision, and they will be producing Be Original’s products as well as products for other businesses that do not have the capacity to employ people permanently. This will enable the ladies to earn an income for every product that they produce, and with the tools we want to equip them to also start their own businesses.

We have already identified various farms where this project will start soon, and are currently doing site visits to the farms to identify space for the ladies to produce the products. The idea is that we empower women to work independently on the farms with a local person on the farm who will oversee the ladies. We realise that the distances that these ladies would need to travel are vast, and it will be better to empower them to work at their own pace on the farms. This will also be duplicated in the town areas. We will also create a local space in town, where we can produce the products, but also add a shop so that tourists and the community are also able to visit the workspace and the shop to purchase products. This will also create a platform for these ladies to sell their products that they have made themselves.

This is not a short-term project; the idea is that the ladies learn the skills so that they can help themselves. The success of this project will depend on each and every woman who will be trained. We will train as many women as possible and will try and secure funding so that they receive the necessary tools to be able to run their own businesses. In partnering with other businesses, the ladies will be able to work immediately as they will be producing to the client’s needs and specifications.

Do you have any unused sewing equipment?

Help us to help the community.

We train women from the community in sewing and entrepreneurship so that they are able to earn an income and become independent.

We need sewing machines, overlockers, scissors, sewing equipment, etc, to be able to train the ladies.

Yes, I would love to get involved
